Deedy Das

Principal

AI, Cloud Infrastructure, SaaS

Deedy is a principal at Menlo Ventures focused on early-stage investments in AI/ML, next-generation infrastructure, and enterprise software. Having been an engineer and product leader at both a successful startup and large public companies, Deedy is well-equipped to help technical founders navigate how to build and scale enduring tech companies.

Deedy has been a company builder for many years and believes that a fantastic product—not just tech—is what attracts and retains users. Before joining Menlo, he was on the founding team of Glean, where he went from engineer to engineering manager, then to creator and product lead of Glean Assistant, an AI-powered digital workplace assistant (and a significant portion of the company’s revenue). During his tenure, he helped the company grow from fewer than 10 employees to over 300, and from having no product to a $2.2 billion valuation.

Prior to Glean, Deedy spent five years in various technical roles at Facebook and Google. At Google, he worked on search and AI, helping improve query understanding and also building out the sports vertical; when you Google sports scores or statistics, the results you see are a glimpse of Deedy’s work. His understanding of both the established principles of industry giants and the scrappiness of startups is a mindset he brings to his role as investor and helping startups get to scale.

Deedy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science with a focus on AI/ML and information retrieval from Cornell University. He grew up between Calcutta and the Bay Area from middle to high school. In his spare time, he likes to stay active, read, and write extensively—about tech, immigration, India, and search—on his blog and X/Twitter at @deedydas.
