Menlo Welcomes Former Atlassian CPO Joff Redfern to Our Investment Team
Today, we’re excited to announce Menlo Ventures’ newest partner, Joff Redfern.
Joff joins our team of deep and complementary operators and, in particular, adds world-class expertise in finding product-market fit and scaling product organizations. He’s a master of the product craft and a builder. Joff’s product experience is broad, and we look forward to him applying it as an investor and advisor across the portfolio. Having such experience at a venture firm is unique, and we plan to take advantage of it fully!
When you get to know Joff, it’s quite obvious you’re sitting across from someone who is smart, curious, has a huge heart, and naturally embraces the “ALL IN” culture at Menlo. He’s also a sailor, farmer, hiker, father of four amazing kids, three llamas (including one named Dalai Lama), several chickens (including KFC and McNuggets)…okay, you get that the creative spirit is abundant! Joff is a self-described “tall, slightly nerdy product guy,” but what really comes through is his ability to connect with people deeply, amazing energy, and willingness to roll up his sleeves and collaboratively solve problems.
Joff’s resume and accomplishments speak for themselves. He was Atlassian’s former Chief Product Officer, responsible for leading its acclaimed portfolio of products, including Jira, Confluence, and Trello. During that time, he was named on the “Global CPO 20” list by Products That Count and “Top 20 Product Leader” by Product School. Before joining Atlassian, he spent seven years at LinkedIn, where he built the mobile team and led the consumer platform as the company grew from 450 employees pre-IPO to 10,000+. He’s also founded a couple of startups and was head of product for a startup that was acquired. He knows and has lived the journey from zero to IPO and beyond.
At Menlo, Joff will make early-stage investments in three categories he’s uniquely familiar with and passionate about from his time at Atlassian and Linkedin: 1) software development lifecycle, from initial idea to supporting code and customers in production, 2) the big shift in the future of work due to AI, especially next-generation business and productivity apps, 3) businesses with network effects, networks, and marketplaces. His deep experience as an advisor, founder, product leader, and operator across a variety of tech businesses has given him a broad perspective and skill set to be uniquely valuable to early-stage teams.
At Menlo, every partner on our early-stage team has a mix of start-up and scale-up operating experience; Joff is a perfect example and adds an important product leadership dimension to round out our team.
Joff, we are more than excited to welcome you to Menlo Ventures. We look forward to partnering with you as you make the same mark on the venture business as you have in the technology industry. This is going to be amazing!
