We have exciting news at Menlo today: Deedy Das has been promoted to Partner.
When Deedy joined us a year and a half ago, we knew we were bringing on a special talent. His track record spoke for itself: engineering roles at Facebook and Google, followed by a founding engineer role at Glean, and then a promotion to Head of Product leading and launching the company’s hit AI Assistant product.
The question was how quickly all of that would translate into success as a venture capitalist. The answer came faster than we expected.
In his short time here, Deedy has already made a significant mark. He was instrumental in launching our $100M Anthology Fund with Anthropic, which has now backed more than 40 companies at the earliest stages of AI innovation. He has proven his ability to win and support compelling investments like Goodfire, where he serves on the board; OpenRouter, where he is a board observer; and one more in stealth that will be announced shortly. Beyond that, he possesses tremendous technical depth, a passion for products, and an ability to connect with entrepreneurs that has made him one of the most sought-after investors on our team and among his peers.

Deedy’s influence extends beyond Menlo—he has become a trusted voice in the AI community, with more than 200,000 followers on X and 100,000 on LinkedIn. Founders, engineers, and investors turn to him for insight on infrastructure, product strategy, and the LLM landscape, and his analysis helps shape how the ecosystem understands a rapidly evolving market. He also co-authored our 2025 Mid-Year LLM Market Update, a data-driven look at enterprise adoption and the shifting dynamics between foundation model providers, including the insight that Anthropic had pulled ahead of OpenAI substantially in enterprise market share.
At Menlo Ventures, there is a high bar for promotion to Partner. It’s a milestone that happens only once every few years, and it reflects more than just investing success. We look for someone who represents the firm well, collaborates effectively with colleagues and founders, and shows the judgment and conviction to win in competitive markets. Deedy embodies all of these qualities and more, and his energy is infectious.
We could not be happier to welcome him into the partnership; we already know what an impact he’ll make. Please join us in congratulating Deedy on this accomplishment—it’s part of our commitment at Menlo to build a team that has the technical and operational expertise to collaborate with the next wave of AI entrepreneurs as they build industry-defining businesses.
