Mike Lee

Director of Talent, Menlo Labs

Mike is the Director of Talent at Menlo Labs, where he identifies and builds exceptional founding teams from scratch. He has more than twenty years of experience in talent acquisition and organizational strategy for high-growth startups across a variety of industries. He also founded two successful recruiting firms, working with Fortune 25 organizations through both people-centered and data-driven talent acquisition strategies.

In addition to his own consulting work, Mike managed Corporate Talent Acquisition for The Home Depot. His team was responsible for scaling four technology startups who were acquired by The Home Depot and now function as subsidiaries: QuoteCenter, BlackLocus, Askuity and Techshed. These startups created multi-billion dollar products in sales enablement, e-commerce, data science and merchandising as a core part of The Home Depot’s fastest growing business units.

As a self-proclaimed “creative connector,” Mike focuses on bringing the right people together with ideas that can spur solutions to huge problems. He looks for entrepreneurs that have experience building “from 0 to 1,” or that have been a significant leader or contributor as a company moves from ideation to creation. Although Mike has worked with several multi-billion dollar companies, his passion is for building companies at the earliest stage. In this role, he finds a creative outlet that allows him to create new frameworks, think outside the box and try new things.

Mike is an adventurer at heart. He resides in Portland, Oregon where he enjoys running, snowboarding, rifle marksmanship and of course, spending time with his wife and six children. His riskiest adventure? Backpacking through a storm on Mount Katahdin’s “knife’s edge” in Maine!
